When properly trained and cared for, Doberman puppies can become the world’s most loving and affectionate dogs.
Dobermans are believes to be made of many breeds. You will commonly hear Dobermans referred to as Doberman Pinchers. However, the breed is referred to as a mix of a Rottweiler, Black and Tan Terrier, and German Pinscher.
Like all puppies, your Doberman should be neutered or spayed as soon as your vet says it is fine to move forward with the procedure. This prevents unwanted litters and homeless dogs in the future. Fortunately, Dobermans are one of the easier breeds to care for! Aside from the normal puppy routines and house breaking, your Doberman puppy will typically carry a clean bill of health and likely not have any health issues in the future.

Your Doberman will quickly grow from a ball of cuteness to a full size dog that is ready to protect you at a moment’s notice. This is the main reason socialization is so important. You need to teach your new puppy that other dogs do not pose a threat (for the most part). This socialization will teach your Doberman that dogs who are wagging their tail mean no harm. It will also prevent them from lashing out or being aggressive during walks when they are larger, harder to control, adult dogs.
This breed is not only energetic, but it is also extremely loyal. This loyalty can help create a level of safety for families. However, your Doberman puppy must be trained to not lash out at or scare away guests. Proper obedience training will ensure your Doberman puppy does not display signs of aggression in the wrong instances.
If you plan on owning a Doberman puppy, you can actually start training as early as eight weeks old. However, you should always speak with your vet before beginning training. You only want your puppy in training if it is healthy and does not have any health concerns. Aside from that, you need to remember your small puppy will quickly grow in size. You will want to have your trainer (or yourself) teach the puppy to sit and stay as soon as possible. Additionally, you need to complete potty training (and crate training, if you will be crating your pup) as soon as possible. Once you know your puppy can sit on command (even during major periods of excitement), begin leash training with a harness. Your Doberman needs a lot of exercise, and you do not want a 90 to 100 pound dog yanking you around the neighborhood!
